How to make COP17 interesting

I keep coming across good work by organizations blacklisted by the UK government as unsuitable for multilateral funding.

The UN Industrial Development Organization co-sponsored last week’s Vienna Energy Forum 2011. The debate added valuable momentum towards global endorsement of the goal to achieve universal access to electricity by 2030.

Faced with an estimated cost of $30 billion per annum, the energy people will be sharpening their claws for the Durban UN climate conference in November. Could the Green Climate Fund conceivably support a programme which would increase greenhouse gas emissions? (by up to 3% depending on methods of generation).

Yes, there’s a long list of good reasons. And it would once and for all embed the poverty and development agenda into the fight against climate change.
