Atomic watchdog says Iran not complying with nuclear safeguards
12/6/2025: The International Atomic Energy Agency has passed a resolution declaring that Iran is not complying with its obligations regarding nuclear non-proliferation. Tehran has “repeatedly” been unable to explain and demonstrate that its nuclear material was not being diverted for further enrichment for military use.

Oxfam warns that Israel’s mass displacement campaign is erasing Gaza
28/5/2025: Israel has used mass displacement orders to force civilians into restricted zones that make up less than 20 percent of Gaza. Oxfam interprets this as a deliberate campaign to dismantle and depopulate Gaza—a process of forced displacement which is a war crime.

UN Security Council must renew the arms embargo on South Sudan
27/5/2025: A full UN arms embargo on South Sudan has been in force since 2018 but now there is a push from African members of the Security Council to lift it. Amnesty International says this would be a mistake as violence has recently come back to plague the country.

Guterres calls on Israel to accept UN’s plan for Gaza
23/5/2025: The UN Secretary-General had called once again for a permanent ceasefire to end the fighting between Israeli forces and Hamas militants, the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages and full humanitarian access. The UN will not take part in any scheme that fails to respect international law.

Broad backing for UN peacekeeping as global threats mount
14/5/2025: More than 130 countries have pledged military, technical and political support to UN peacekeeping at a high-level ministerial summit in Berlin. Peacekeeping remains one of the UN’s most visible activities, with over 61,000 uniformed personnel from 119 countries currently deployed across 11 missions.
